Welcome to 2020! We have phones that can connect you to someone across the world from your pocket, self-driving cars, virtual reality, and refrigerators that can access the internet. Our technology is advancing, but what about our fashion? Lets take a step back in time where cherry red was the it color, denim on denim was hot, and the school-girl look kept us youthful!
I felt like a Riverdale character in this lighting, surrounded by pinball machines, wearing a cute outfit… I had been wanting to try the whole slip dress over a mock-neck top for so long. I wanted to have a cute and girly look for this shoot to balance out the retro, rocker-girl outfits. I would totally wear this out to a milkshake joint after a movie date in real life. “One vanilla malt, please!”
This look works with all different types of slip or bodycon dresses. The real key to this look is a thin top with a high neck-line. Like a mock-neck or a turtle-neck. You want the shirt to be thinner and body forming so that you don’t have a weird, bunched up, torso. I got both items from SHEIN.
Denim on denim! This is a simple look that things like Stranger Things, boiler suits, and vintage pinups inspired me to wear. I put together matching, dark denim, high-waisted jeans, and an embroidered, jean jacket for this classic 80’s look. All I’m missing is my mullet.
This jacket is one of my favorites. It has a cat skull with roses gorgeously embroidered on the back of it. Most people don’t know what kind of skull it is, but it’s kinda like a hinted homage to my blog and favorite animal. This is not an iron on, it’s actually embroidered on the back. The jacket itself is thick, a little stiff at first, beautifully colored, and amazing quality. You can find it on Esty at Pink Bird Originals.
The other two articles of clothing are just basics in my wardrobe. I wore a plain white tank top, (from God knows where) and my favorite pair of high-waisted jeans. You can find these jeans on a couple different looks I’ve posted, so I’m not going to link them here. They are from Fashion Nova, and are basically the comfiest jeans on the planet. They hug my body in every right way.
This outfit gives me major retro vibes. I really wish I had put on some red lipstick for this, but I was afraid of getting it on the white mock-neck top. This outfit and the pinball arcade made for a really fun shoot. All the cherry reds and hair-metal band pinball machines really threw me back in time. We ended up playing a Led Zeppelin machine that I accidentally bumped into, and apparently had some credits left. The music from the machine really helped get us into the shoot!
This outfit is made from a plethora of things I had in my closet. I found the skull thinking of pizza shirt at a thrift store a couple years ago. The pizza definitely makes the shirt, and is one of the reasons I added it to the outfit. I tied the bottom for a more fitted look.
The jacket I found on Amazon a couple years ago. (Time really flies.) When I link it at the bottom, I’m not sure if it’s the exact brand I chose, but if not, it’s super close. The jacket itself is a really cool looking, faux leather, moto-jacket. It definitely makes you extremely eye-catching. Which is just another reason to love it. It makes you look kinda like a big deal!
Lastly, I found these checkered, high-waisted, leggings on SHEIN. They add a cool, vintage, pattern to the whole ensemble. Making not just one part of the outfit eye-catching, but the entirety of it. These pants are super soft and stretchy. They’re perfect for eating a huge burger and not regretting it later. This whole outfit is an extremely comfortable one, making it my favorite out of all three!
