We all have our favorite comforts. We take luxurious baths, read books, drink wine, eat ice cream… These are the little things that make us happy, and make us take a step back from our busy, stressful, lives. If there is one drink that makes me feel like curling up with a book, cuddled in a blanket, lounging in some cute pajamas it’s the London Fog.
I have a sensitive stomach. Sometimes coffee is just way to hard for me to drink in the mornings. Luckily, I have figured out a way for me to get some much needed caffeine, without the need to live in my bathroom. It’s super simple to make!
Here’s What you’ll need:
- 2 Earl Grey Tea Bags
- Vanilla Syrup or Vanilla Extract
- Milk or Milk Substitute
- Milk Frother
- Kettle (Optional)
Step One: Choose a Cute Mug
Choose a mug that speaks to you. Classy, sophisticated, elegant…
Step 2: Add Hot Water
First, if you are sophisticated and use a kettle, boil some water. If you don’t have a kettle; feel free to just microwave your cup of water. I like to microwave it for at least two minutes. That way, while the tea is steeping, your beverage won’t get too cold.
Step 3: Add Ingredients
Next, you will add your milk, syrup, and sugar (if desired.) I feel the need to add sugar to mine because all Target carries is the sugar free syrup. To keep from having that fake-sweetener after taste, I add about half a spoonful of sugar.
For Alternatives: you can use brown sugar, pure vanilla extract, or any milk substitute. Make it how you like!
Step 4: Froth It!
This little do-dad is a battery operated milk frother! I really recommend getting one of these. You can make a London Fog without it, but the foam really makes it. You can get this one here!
Before adding your tea bags, you’re going to want to froth your drink. This frother is easy to use, but be careful! Things can get real messy, real fast! (I learned this the hard way my first time.) Don’t over-fill your cup. Make sure there is at least an inch of space on the top. When you go in with your frother, don’t go in with it turned on. Instead, place the frother mid-drink, turn it on, and slowly make your way towards the top of the drink. Keep your hand on the button though! I like to turn mine on and off, to avoid overflowing. In seconds, you should have a beautifully frothed beverage!
Step 5: Add Tea Bags
The last, simple, thing you need to do is add two tea bags! Use your favorite Earl Grey Tea, and Viola’! You’ve made the coziest and most delicious hot beverage out there!
Cozy up and feel fancy, drinking out of your sophisticated mug, with your delicious beverage. You are now a certified barista. Congrats!
